WELCOME TO FRANK P. CURRY JR. POST

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Frank P. Curry Jr. Post #2718, located on Lincoln Road in Franklin Square, New York, serves as a vital anchor for local combat veterans, military families, and civic life.   Named in honor of Frank P. Curry Jr., a Franklin Square resident who served in World War I and made the ultimate sacrifice just days before the armistice was signed, the post was established to preserve his memory and provide a community home for returning service members.   Over the decades, Post #2718 has grown into a cornerstone of community patriotism, sponsoring local youth programs, conducting Buddy Poppy drives, organizing flag retirements, and participating in annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day commemorations. Beyond its ceremonial duties, the post operates as a dedicated support network where veterans of all generations, from World War II and Korea to the Gulf War and modern post-9/11 conflicts, can find camaraderie, peer support, and assistance navigating VA benefits and resources.

Working alongside the Post, the VFW Post #2718 Auxiliary plays an essential role in fulfilling the organization's mission of service and advocacy. Established in alignment with the national VFW Auxiliary—founded in 1914 to support overseas veterans and their relatives.  The Auxiliary at Post #2718 consists of mothers, spouses, siblings, children, and grandchildren of eligible veterans.   Throughout its history, the Auxiliary has been a driving force behind many of the post's vital outreach initiatives, leading hospital visitations, distributing care packages to deployed troops, fundraising for veteran relief funds, and advocating for military family wellness.  By coordinating patriotic educational projects in local schools and maintaining year-round support for veterans in need, the Auxiliary ensures that the spirit of community service remains vibrant at Post #2718.
